ShiftClick works on either a fixed-price or hourly rate basis. We generally try to provide fixed-price jobs based on a very clear definition of a project’s scope. Defining the scope ahead of time sets timelines, expectations and limits for both parties with the understanding that there are always unforeseen conditions that can arise during a project. Changes or additional work that fall outside of the pre-defined project scope are billed at an hourly rate.
We do not publish our hourly rate to the general public. If you are interested to learn what our hourly rate is and you’ve never worked with us before, please feel free to contact us.
When not working on a fixed-price job, we bill for our time. Some of the items we bill for are:
We do not charge for initial consultations of 30 minutes or less. In this time, we can get an idea of your needs and begin to formulate a proposal for your project. We also do not charge to put together a proposal for you or for follow-up calls related to refining the proposal and/or project definition. When our time is required outside the scope of a signed contract, we bill hourly for our work. Meetings, consultations and access to our expertise provide clients with value. These activities take time and our time is what we bill for. We are not able to devote large amounts of time to prospective clients who are not willing to compensate us for our time.
Any changes that fall outside of the initial project definition once the project proposal has been accepted will be billed at our standard hourly rate. Any changes that result from oversight (including, but not limited to lack of definition or certain unforeseen conditions) on the part of ShiftClick will be included as part of the initial project total at no additional charge.
ShiftClick insures that the websites it creates are compatible with the following web browsers:
Coding your website to be compatible with web browsers other than those listed above requires additional coding and testing. If you request that your website be available to a wider range of browsers, a fee equivalent to 15% of the total proposed project fee will be added to account for the additional effort for newly created websites.
If your existing site “malfunctions” either visually or functionally in browsers that are not listed above or in older or newer versions of the browsers listed above, ShiftClick will bill hourly at our standard rate to complete the work to make your site compatible.
We bill at significant, agreed upon project milestones for fixed-price projects. These milestones may vary from project to project. We bill monthly for hourly work.
Invoices may be sent to you via US Postal Service or e-mail. Invoices must be paid by check. Payment of any invoice is due in full within 30 days of the invoice date. Late payments are assessed a late fee and two late payments in a row puts your account on hold.
Non-payment constitutes a breach of agreement. Accounts not in good standing (more than 60 days late) could result in termination of services including website and e-mail hosting. Delinquent accounts will be given 10 business days to be made current. After this period, action will be taken.
We reserve the right to suspend any and all project activity including any site or e-mail hosting until such time as your account can be made current. In some cases, this can result in an interruption of service to you or your customers, so it is in your best interest to make payments in a timely fashion. We do not provide notification of account suspension prior to acting on it.
Once your account has been reinstated, invoices are due within 15 days of the invoice date. Two consecutive on-time payments will put your account in good standing and returns you to a 30-day payment schedule.
We will notify you in advance of any delays on our part that may impact the on-time delivery of a project. In the event that client delays prevent a project from moving forward, ShiftClick reserves the right to halt all work and require payment for services rendered before work will resume. We will give adequate warning prior to halting any work or requiring payment so that the project can be put back on schedule.
Website, form and e-mail hosting services are billed on a quarterly or yearly basis. A discount is offered for prepaid yearly billing. Pre-paid accounts can be discontinued at any time. Any remaining account balance will be refunded.
ShiftClick does not own its own web servers and does not guarantee uptime for any services hosted with us. We will always do our best to insure that your website, forms and e-mail are functioning properly and will work through any issues with our providers on your behalf. However, we cannot guarantee 24 x 7 x 365 uptime.
While we are generally reachable via phone, ShiftClick does not provide “on call” or “immediate response” services and conducts most correspondence with clients via e-mail in order to keep administrative costs low.
ShiftClick is not responsible for making your website function properly should you wish to discontinue hosting services with us. Transferring your site to another provider may result in site downtime and limited or no access to e-mail stored on our servers.
